Pay Rate: $16.50 per hourEmployment Type: Part-Time / Flexible HoursSchedule: Sunday to Saturday | 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM (flexibility required)

 

Position Summary

Dunbar Security is seeking a Retail Security Officer to help maintain a safe and organized shopping environment. This role partners with store leadership to oversee daily activity, support loss prevention efforts, and assist customers as needed.

The position is ideal for someone who stays aware of their surroundings, communicates well with others, and is comfortable working in a retail setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Observe store activity to help deter theft and maintain order
• Monitor customer and employee behavior and report concerns when necessary
• Respond to door alarms and verify purchases in a professional manner
• Conduct routine walkthroughs of the sales floor and nearby exterior areas
• Maintain a visible presence to reduce policy violations and loss
• Document incidents and daily observations clearly and accurately
• Work alongside store staff to address safety or security concerns
• Provide customer assistance while upholding store guidelines
• Complete additional duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to stay attentive and professional during shifts
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Comfortable working in a customer-focused retail environment

 

Preferred Experience

• Background in retail security, loss prevention, or customer service
• Experience with report writing or basic documentation

 

Work Environment

• Retail store setting with ongoing customer interaction
• Combination of standing, walking, and active monitoring
• Evening schedule requiring consistent attention and awareness
