Objectives of Role

The purpose of the Global IT Manager role is to provide unified leadership and strategic direction for IT across DT Global, ensuring that technology effectively enables corporate operations and project delivery in complex international environments.

The role exists to integrate IT functions, strengthen governance and security, and deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective technology services that align with organisational priorities and risk appetite. 

1.      IT Strategy & Leadership

·         Develop and execute a global IT strategy aligned with DT Global’s corporate and project delivery objectives.

·         Provide strategic advice to the COO and Executive Leadership Team on IT investments, risks, and opportunities.

·         Establish a clear operating model for IT across corporate and project environments.

·         Drive digital transformation initiatives, including cloud migration, automation, and AI adoption.

2.      Global IT Management & Oversight

·         Provide leadership and oversight to:

o    IT Service Delivery Manager

o    IT Cyber Security & Infrastructure Lead

o    IT Governance & Policy Manager

o    IT Business & Data Systems Manager 

·         Ensure effective coordination between IT functions to deliver integrated outcomes.

·         Define roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations across the IT function.

·         Build a high-performing, globally distributed IT team.

3.      Service Delivery & Operational Performance

·         Ensure reliable, secure, and cost-effective delivery of IT services globally.

·         Oversee service levels, incident management, and user experience across all regions.

·         Drive continuous improvement in IT service delivery practices.

·         Ensure effective vendor management and service provider performance.

4.      Cyber Security, Infrastructure & Risk Management

·         Maintain accountability for global IT security posture and infrastructure resilience.

·         Ensure implementation of appropriate cyber security controls and monitoring frameworks.

·         Oversee risk identification, mitigation, and incident response processes.

·         Ensure alignment with organisational risk management frameworks and external requirements (e.g. DFAT, FCDO, EU and other clients).

5.      Governance, Compliance & Policy

·         Establish and maintain IT governance frameworks, policies, and standards.

·         Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and internal control requirements.

·         Oversee IT audits, risk assessments, and remediation activities.

·         Support enterprise risk management and internal audit processes.

6.      Business Systems & Data

·         Oversee enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, HRIS) and data platforms.

·         Ensure effective data governance, integrity, and accessibility.

·         Drive adoption of data analytics and business intelligence capabilities.

·         Coordinate with the AI Enablement and Governance Lead to support the organisation’s AI enablement approach, including governance, tool selection, and safe adoption.

7.      Financial & Commercial Management

·         Develop and manage the global IT budget.

·         Optimise IT spend, including licensing, infrastructure, and vendor contracts.

·         Ensure cost-effective delivery of IT services while maintaining performance and security.

·         Support procurement processes for IT systems and services.

8.       Stakeholder Engagement

·         Act as the primary escalation point for IT issues at the executive level.

·         Build strong relationships with regional and functional leadership.

·         Ensure IT is responsive to the needs of both corporate teams and project environments.

·         Communicate IT strategy, performance, and risks clearly to senior stakeholders.

9.      Capability Building & Change Management

·         Lead major IT change management initiatives

·         Design and deliver practical IT awareness and capability uplift activities for staff

·         Develop clear guidance, tools, and examples of safe and appropriate IT use

·         Translate technical IT concepts into practical, non-technical guidance suitable for diverse audiences

10. Market Awareness & Continuous Improvement

·         Monitor emerging systems, tools, trends risks, and sector practice relevant to international development and related sectors

·         Track evolving donor expectations, regulations, and guidance on IT and AI usage

·         Provide periodic briefings to senior leadership on emerging trends and implications for DT Global

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge

·         Significant experience (10+ years) in IT leadership roles, including managing multiple IT disciplines.

·         Proven experience leading global or multi-regional IT functions.

·         Strong understanding of:

o    IT service management

o    Cyber security and infrastructure

o    IT governance, risk, and compliance

o    Enterprise systems and data platforms

·         Experience managing vendors, budgets, and complex IT environments.

·         Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

·         Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.

·         Willingness to travel as required globally.

·         Ability to work flexibly to support a global organisation / disbursed IT team.

Desirable

·         Experience in international development or similarly complex global operating environments.

·         Strong commercial and risk management acumen.

·         Ability to balance centralised control with regional flexibility.

·         Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach with a focus on delivery.

·         Experience leading organisational change and transformation initiatives.
