Role Description
We are looking for a skilled Drone Design Engineer to design, develop, test, and improve UAV/drone systems for industrial, agricultural, surveillance, cleaning, logistics, and customized drone applications. The candidate should have strong knowledge of drone frame design, aerodynamics, propulsion systems, payload integration, CAD modeling, and manufacturing feasibility. The Drone Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing next-generation drone systems and prototypes. Daily tasks include creating detailed design specifications, performing simulations, and using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to develop and refine drone components. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Bengaluru.

Key Responsibilities
- Design drone frames, arms, landing gear, motor mounts, clamps, payload structures, and enclosures.
- Create 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, assembly drawings, and manufacturing-ready designs.
- Select suitable motors, propellers, ESCs, batteries, flight controllers, GPS, sensors, and communication modules.
- Perform weight estimation, payload calculation, thrust-to-weight analysis, and stability checks.
- Work on multirotor drones such as quadcopters, hexacopters, and heavy-lift drones.
- Design parts considering strength, vibration, airflow, ease of assembly, and maintenance.
- Prepare BOM, technical specifications, and design documentation.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams for CNC cutting, 3D printing, carbon fiber, aluminum, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Support prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and design improvements.
- Ensure drone designs meet safety, durability, and production requirements.
- Work with electronics, embedded, and software teams for proper integration of components.
- Improve existing drone designs for better performance, lower weight, and higher reliability.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of drone/UAV mechanical design.
- Hands-on experience with SolidWorks / CATIA / Fusion 360 / AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of drone propulsion systems, battery sizing, thrust calculation, and payload capacity.
- Knowledge of materials such as carbon fiber, aluminum, nylon, ABS, PLA, and composite materials.
- Ability to create manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and assembly details.
- Understanding of aerodynamics, vibration, center of gravity, and structural strength.
- Basic knowledge of flight controllers such as Pixhawk, Cube Orange, ArduPilot, or PX4.
- Good problem-solving and prototype development skills.
- Ability to work with vendors, manufacturers, and internal engineering teams.
Prefered Skills
- Experience in designing agricultural drones, surveillance drones, delivery drones, or cleaning drones.
- Knowledge of FEA/static load analysis and design validation.
- Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and carbon fiber fabrication.
- Understanding of wiring layout, battery mounting, ESC placement, cooling, and payload integration.
- Basic knowledge of drone testing, calibration, and field trials.
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
- Relevant drone/UAV design experience will be preferred.
- Proficiency in Design Engineering and Product Design techniques
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering principles
- Hands-on expertise in using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for modeling and simulations
- Experience with prototyping and translating designs into functional products
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of drone technology, robotics, and IoT integration is a strong asset
- Understanding of regulatory standards and safety protocols in the drone industry
