Description
The Business Teacher (Personal Finance & Entrepreneurship) is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging instruction that builds students’ financial literacy and entrepreneurial mindset. This role emphasizes real-world application, critical thinking, and the development of skills necessary for both personal financial success and business innovation.
The Business Teacher fosters a classroom culture that promotes inquiry, collaboration, and accountability while preparing students to apply business concepts beyond the classroom.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction & Curriculum

Develop and deliver standards-aligned curriculum in personal finance, business fundamentals, and entrepreneurship

Design lesson plans, assessments, and projects that measure student mastery and application of concepts

Incorporate real-world scenarios, case studies, and project-based learning experiences

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners
Student Engagement & Culture

Build a positive, structured classroom culture aligned to HFCA’s PRIDE values

Use engaging and interactive teaching strategies to promote critical thinking and problem-solving

Provide academic advising and support related to college, career pathways, and entrepreneurship opportunities
Data & Accountability

Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction

Provide timely, actionable feedback to students

Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress
Professional Practice

Stay current on industry trends in finance, business, and entrepreneurship

Integrate technology and innovative tools into instruction (e.g., simulations, financial literacy platforms)

Collaborate with colleagues, school leaders, and external partners to enhance programming

Participate in professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
School & Community Engagement

Support and/or lead extracurricular opportunities such as business clubs, competitions, or student enterprises

Build partnerships with local businesses and organizations to provide real-world exposure for students

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, or a related field

Valid Wisconsin teaching license (or eligibility to obtain)

Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and student achievement

Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills
Preferred

Master’s degree in Business Education or related field

Previous teaching experience in a secondary setting

Professional experience in business, finance, or entrepreneurship
