Job Title: Senior .NET API Developer
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contract
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior .NET API Developer to support the development and modernization of enterprise healthcare applications and services. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core Web API, RESTful APIs, microservices, and SQL Server, along with experience working in cloud-based environments.
The role will focus primarily on backend/API development, integration of enterprise applications, modernization of existing services, and building scalable and secure APIs supporting critical healthcare workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and backend services using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core Web API.
- Develop and enhance microservices-based applications supporting enterprise healthcare and operational workflows.
- Build API integrations between internal and external applications using REST, JSON/XML, Swagger/OpenAPI, and related integration technologies.
- Work with SQL Server to develop and optimize queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and data-access layers.
- Use Entity Framework Core, LINQ, and/or Dapper for efficient database access.
- Modernize legacy .NET applications and APIs by migrating functionality to modern .NET and ASP.NET Core.
- Implement secure APIs using OAuth 2.0, JWT, authentication/authorization, role-based access control, and HTTPS/TLS.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, QA, DevOps, and business teams to design and deliver reliable enterprise services.
- Develop solutions following SOLID principles, Dependency Injection, Repository Pattern, clean coding, and enterprise design patterns.
- Troubleshoot and optimize API performance, reliability, scalability, and production issues.
- Support cloud deployments and integrations using Microsoft Azure services.
- Participate in CI/CD processes and automated deployments using Azure DevOps/Azure Pipelines, Git, YAML, and related tools.
- Support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/AKS, where applicable.
- Develop appropriate unit/integration tests and maintain code quality through automated testing and tools such as SonarQube.
- Work effectively within Agile development teams and participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, with strong focus on backend/API development.
- Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET.
- Experience with .NET and ASP.NET Core.
- Strong experience developing RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Strong SQL Server/T-SQL experience.
- Experience with Entity Framework Core and LINQ; Dapper is a plus.
- Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, JSON and XML.
- Strong understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
- Experience with Azure/cloud environments.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, coding standards, testing, and production support.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience working in a healthcare or other highly regulated enterprise environment.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/AKS.
- Experience with Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure App Service, Azure SQL, Key Vault, and Application Insights.
- Experience modernizing legacy .NET applications.
- Experience with event-driven/asynchronous architectures and messaging platforms such as Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS/SNS, or similar.
- Exposure to Angular, React, TypeScript, or JavaScript is a plus but not the primary focus of the role.
- Experience with automated code quality/testing tools such as SonarQube.
