Develop, implement and coordinate planning, estimating, and cost controls for power station construction projects. Develop and review project estimates and schedules. Monitor actual project cost and/or work status data to ensure projects proceed on schedule and within budget and provide status reports to management. Develop and review O and M and capital budgets and analyze monthly cost reports. Assist in training lower-level controls personnel. Implement, evaluate and monitor controls systems. Coordinate use of controls equipment and facilities. Conduct meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters. Act as lead controls discipline representative to major projects. Interface and coordinate with other corporate and station groups. Establish and implement cost and planning control policy and procedures for power station construction project.
The Project Controls Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the successful execution of electric distribution infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of planning, estimating, cost control, and performance reporting processes. The Controls Specialist helps ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives, while also contributing to continuous improvement, process standardization, and team development.
• Lead detailed analyses of project progress, schedule, and budget. Track milestones and deliverables across stakeholder groups. Monitor expenditures, conduct variance analysis, and provide accurate forecasting. Deliver actionable insights and status reports to cross-functional teams and leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and recommended actions.
• Identify and mitigate project risks. Manage change orders, assessing impacts on scope, schedule, and budget, while ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Create and maintain process maps and documentation for estimating, scheduling, reporting, and change management workflows. Promote clarity and consistency across teams.
• Support training and mentoring of junior staff. Drive continuous improvement through best practices and lessons learned.
• Evaluate and enhance project controls tools and procedures. Support automation and integration of visualization tools to improve reporting efficiency.
• Contribute to annual budget development and long-range financial plans. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and regulatory standards.
With manager approval, the successful candidate could sit out of an office in any of the 3 regions at an approved location.
