About us
PlaSiV is building a digital manufacturing platform. One of its core modules is discrete event simulation. We're looking for an engineer to build real models with it, stress-test it against production-grade problems, and give us the feedback that makes it better.
The role
You'll own how discrete event simulation works inside our product: the modeling logic, the fidelity standards, and the translation of messy customer process data into models people trust enough to make capital decisions on. You'll build models for live customer engagements, help automate model generation so a three-week modeling job becomes a three-hour one, and tell us where the tool falls short. You'll also help integrate AI into the modeling workflow.
What you'll do
- Build and validate DES models of assembly, test, packaging, and logistics for throughput, WIP, buffer sizing, takt and line balancing, labor and equipment utilization, bottleneck and constraint analysis
- Write code, not just click through GUIs: scripting inside Plant Simulation and FlexSim, plus Python for data prep, calibration, batch experiment runs, and post-processing
- Define the modeling standards and reusable component library.
- Propose and drive product features that make models more accurate and faster to build, auto-calibration against actuals, distribution fitting from historical data, parameterized templates, warm-up and replication logic, scenario automation, validation dashboards.
- Work directly with customer engineering teams during pilots and POCs: gather process data, calibrate against actuals, defend assumptions in technical reviews.
- Partner with our software and ML teams to auto-generate models from planning data.
- Translate simulation output into decisions: cost per unit, OEE impact, capex avoidance.
What we're looking for
- 6–12 years building production DES models in industry
- Deep hands-on Siemens Plant Simulation and FlexSim, including scripting (SimTalk, FlexScript)
- Breadth across domains: automotive, semiconductor, electronics assembly, or similar high-mix or high-volume environments
- Strong industrial engineering fundamentals: time study, work measurement, queuing behavior, statistical distributions, DOE, capacity modeling
- Able to hold your own in a technical review with a customer's manufacturing engineering lead
- MES/ERP data integration, or connecting simulation to live plant data
Nice to have
- Comfortable coding, Python at minimum, working in Git, handing work to an engineering team without a translation layer
- Fluent with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or equivalent) as part of daily work
