About the role

We seek a highly motivated Student Placement Software Quality Engineer for one year to support our Quality Assurance team in ensuring the reliability, performance, and functionality of our software products. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with experienced engineers, gain hands-on experience with testing methodologies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development lifecycle. As an intern, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, execute test cases, and provide feedback to enhance product quality. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in software quality assurance while working in a dynamic and innovative environment.

This role would suit a student in year 2/3 of their graduate degree-seeking a one-year industry placement. We will work around your academic start and finish times.

In This Role You Will

Software Testing Support

  • Assist in the execution of manual and automated test cases
  • Support the identification, documentation, and tracking of defects
  • Perform functional, regression, and exploratory testing on software applications

Collaboration & Learning

  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and QA engineers to understand project requirements
  • Gain exposure to software testing methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and other Agile processes

Process Improvement

  • Assist in improving test processes and contributing to test automation efforts
  • Document test results and create reports to provide insights on software quality
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in software testing

Credentials And Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of software testing principles and methodologies
  • Familiarity with testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or similar is a plus
  • Exposure to Agile development processes (Scrum, Kanban) is preferred
  • Legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom

This role is a hybrid one, based in Bath 3 times a week, home 2. As the office is in a listed building, we do not have a lift so please make us aware before interview so we can make accommodation.
