Job Description – Director / Senior Director Engineering (AI Systems & Platform Architecture)
We are looking for a highly accomplished engineering leader with deep expertise in AI-driven system architecture, operating systems, embedded platforms, and cross-device intelligent systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong architectural depth across Android, Linux, and Windows ecosystems, along with hands-on experience in integrating AI capabilities at the platform and middleware layers.
Role Overview
The role involves driving next-generation intelligent platform architectures with a strong focus on on-device AI, AI acceleration frameworks, sensor-driven systems, and middleware integration across heterogeneous hardware platforms. The candidate will lead engineering teams responsible for scalable, high-performance AI-enabled software systems across mobile, embedded, and edge devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive AI-driven system architecture strategies across device ecosystems.
- Architect cross-device system primitives including:
- Context-awareness frameworks
- Sensor fusion pipelines
- Capability abstraction layers
- Data orchestration frameworks
- Lead platform architecture initiatives across Android, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
- Drive integration of Android middleware with vendor HALs including:
- GPU accelerators
- NPU/AI accelerators
- DSP frameworks
- Neural execution runtimes
- Design and optimize on-device AI orchestration pipelines balancing:
- Latency
- Memory
- Power consumption
- Thermal constraints
- Accuracy
- Enable system-level support for AI-enabled features including:
- Sensor pipelines
- AI model execution frameworks
- Data movement and processing flows
- Edge inferencing pipelines
- Collaborate with silicon vendors, platform teams, OEMs, and application teams for end-to-end AI feature integration.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical roadmap planning, and platform scalability initiatives.
- Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams across embedded systems, middleware, AI platforms, and mobile technologies.
- Drive engineering excellence through Agile delivery, DevOps, automation, and software craftsmanship practices.
Required Qualifications
- 18+ years of engineering experience with significant exposure to mobile, embedded, or intelligent device ecosystems.
- Strong expertise in Android architecture, Linux systems, and embedded middleware development.
- Deep understanding of Android HAL, framework, kernel interactions, and system services.
- Experience working with AI/ML deployment on edge or mobile devices.
- Strong knowledge of:
- AI acceleration stacks
- GPU/NPU/DSP integration
- Neural runtimes and model optimization
- Sensor and multimedia pipelines
- Experience in wireless/mobile system software, telephony stacks, or device middleware is highly preferred.
- Proven experience leading large engineering organizations and global R&D teams.
- Strong understanding of performance optimization, scalability, and system reliability.
- Experience with Agile/SAFe methodologies and modern software engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, Agentic AI, or AI-assisted software engineering workflows.
- Experience with healthcare, consumer electronics, automotive, or regulated device ecosystems.
- Hands-on understanding of firmware, embedded Linux, and system integration layers.
- Patent filings, innovation programs, or hackathon leadership experience preferred.
