Project Director - Hotel Development
Position Overview
The Project Director will lead and manage all aspects of hotel development projects from initial planning through completion and handover. This role requires extensive experience in hospitality project delivery, stakeholder management, and cross-functional team leadership to ensure successful execution of complex hotel developments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Strategy Oversee end-to-end project delivery for hotel developments, including new construction, renovations, and repositioning projects. Develop and execute comprehensive project strategies aligned with client objectives and market requirements. Lead project teams across multiple disciplines.
Stakeholder Management Serve as primary client interface and maintain relationships with hotel operators, regulatory authorities and key stakeholders. Facilitate regular communication with all project stakeholders through structured reporting and meetings.
Financial & Commercial Management Develop and manage project budgets. Monitor financial performance against approved budgets and implement cost control measures. Review and approve major procurement decisions and contract negotiations. Prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior leadership and clients.
Design & Construction Oversight Lead design development processes working with architects, interior designers, and engineering consultants. Ensure designs meet operational requirements, brand standards, and local regulations. Oversee construction management activities including quality control, safety compliance, and schedule adherence.
Risk Management & Compliance Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks across all phases of development. Ensure compliance with local building codes, hospitality regulations, and safety standards. Implement quality assurance programs and conduct regular project audits.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum 10-12 years of project management experience with at least 5 years in hospitality or hotel development projects mandatory.
Technical Skills Proven experience managing large-scale projects. Strong understanding of hotel operations, brand standards, and guest experience requirements. Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and construction management tools.
Leadership Capabilities Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships. Strong negotiation skills and experience with contract administration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
PMP or similar project management certification. Previous experience with major top notch hotel brands. International project experience and familiarity with multiple regulatory environments is an advantage.
