ROLE SUMMARY
The role requires a seasoned professional with deep industry expertise, strong consulting acumen, and business development capabilities to drive strategic engagements with leading upstream, midstream, and downstream players. In particular, focus areas include crude oil, natural gas, LNG, pipelines/ terminals and city gas distribution. Energy transition linekd areas including green hydrogen/ ammonia, compressed bio gas, CCUS focus etc. would also be areas of priority.
The Practice Leader & Director will be responsible for revenue growth, profitability, client relationship management, project delivery, team leadership and franchise building. The candidate would ensure impactful solutions in areas such as strategy/ business plans, feasibility studies, M&A/ due diligence, bid advisory, transaction advisory, policymaking and government advisory and digital transformation.
The role involves working with private entities, government agencies (Central/ State), financial institutions, and multilaterals.
This is a high-visibility leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced consulting environment and is passionate about solving complex industry challenges while driving commercial success.
Roles & Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate should have a demonstrated track record of having led consulting assignments and developed business in the oil & gas sector.
Business Development & Client Engagement
• Develop and execute the growth strategy for the Oil & Gas vertical, aligned with market trends and client needs.
• Manage the P&L for the oil & gas sector meeting revenue and profitability targets
• Build and manage strong C-suite relationships with oil & gas companies, industry regulators, and key stakeholders.
• Identify and drive new business opportunities, expanding the firm’s presence in the oil & gas sector.
• Lead proposal development, pitch presentations, and contract negotiations to win high-impact consulting mandates.
Project Delivery & Excellence
• Oversee project execution with strong support from an Associate Director, ensuring high-quality deliverables and measurable client impact
• Provide strategic insights across upstream, midstream, and downstream segments to the team as well as Clients
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions that can aid strategic decision-making for clients.
• Delivering high impact presentations to clients and internal stakeholders
Team Leadership & Development
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Oil & Gas consulting team
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the practice.
• Drive capability development, ensuring consultants stay ahead of industry advancements
Thought Leadership & Industry Strategy
• Deep domain knowledge of the oil & gas sector value chain including emerging trends that will shape up the industry
• Represent the firm in industry forums, conferences, and publications to enhance market presence.
• Author and publish articles to showcase thought-leadership and build franchise for the business
Experience 12-18 yrs
Experience with multilateral organisations, oil & gas majors in global markets is desirable/ preferred
Qualification B.E. (desirable) and MBA (Finance/ Oil & Gas)
