As our Director of Engineering, you will be the founding engineering leader in India and a key strategic partner to executive leadership in the United States. You will play a critical role in establishing the engineering culture, hiring exceptional talent, defining technical standards, implementing scalable delivery processes, and shaping the future direction of the organization.
Initially, this role combines engineering leadership, solution architecture, delivery management, team building, and operational oversight. Over time, you will be responsible for growing and leading a mature engineering organization capable of supporting both internal product development and client-facing software delivery engagements.
This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys building organizations from the ground up, developing people, creating systems that scale, and helping define the future of a growing technology company.
Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
· Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing remote engineering organization in India.
· Establish a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
· Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent.
· Create career development frameworks and mentoring programs for engineers and technical leaders.
· Foster a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
Technical Strategy & Architecture
· Lead solution architecture and technical decision-making across multiple SaaS products and client initiatives.
· Establish engineering standards, design principles, coding practices, and architecture governance.
· Guide technology selection, platform strategy, and modernization initiatives.
· Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business objectives.
· Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical leadership across engineering teams.
Delivery Excellence
· Own successful execution and delivery of engineering initiatives.
· Implement and continuously improve Agile and Scrum practices across teams.
· Drive predictable sprint execution, release planning, estimation, and delivery forecasting.
· Identify and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges.
· Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms that provide visibility into team performance and delivery outcomes.
Engineering Operations
· Define and optimize engineering processes, workflows, and operating procedures.
· Establish CI/CD standards, DevOps practices, and quality assurance frameworks.
· Promote automation, observability, operational excellence, and engineering efficiency.
· Ensure engineering teams maintain high standards for documentation, testing, reliability, and maintainability.
AI-Augmented Engineering
· Champion responsible adoption of AI-enabled development tools and practices.
· Develop standards and governance for AI-assisted software development.
· Identify opportunities to improve productivity through AI while maintaining engineering quality and control.
· Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical applications within the organization.
Practice Development
· Help build a scalable software engineering practice capable of supporting both internal product development and external client engagements.
· Participate in technical planning, project estimation, and delivery strategy for client opportunities.
· Contribute to development of reusable frameworks, accelerators, and best practices.
· Help establish the company as a trusted technology partner and engineering organization.
Executive Partnership
· Serve as the primary engineering leader and operational counterpart for executive leadership.
· Provide clear communication on engineering performance, delivery status, hiring progress, risks, and strategic initiatives.
· Contribute to organizational planning, technology strategy, and long-term business growth.
· Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner on engineering, delivery, and technology-related decisions.
RequirementsLeadership Experience
· 12+ years of software engineering experience.
· 5+ years leading engineering teams, programs, or organizations.
· Demonstrated success building and scaling engineering teams.
· Experience leading distributed or remote-first organizations.
· Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing technical talent.
Technical Expertise
· Strong background in modern software architecture and SaaS platforms.
· Experience designing and delivering cloud-native applications.
· Deep understanding of API-first architectures, distributed systems, and scalable platform design.
· Hands-on familiarity with modern development frameworks, cloud platforms, and engineering tooling.
· Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and modern software delivery practices.
· Software Stack- SQL; JSON; .NET; C#; Vite/React; Python
Delivery & Agile Excellence
· Expert-level knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
· Demonstrated success implementing and scaling Agile delivery frameworks.
· Strong program and project leadership capabilities.
· Experience managing complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
· Ability to balance speed, quality, risk, and business outcomes.
Modern Engineering Practices
· Experience implementing engineering governance, quality frameworks, and operational best practices.
· Strong understanding of automated testing, release management, observability, and software reliability.
· Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and emerging software engineering trends.
