About the Role
The role requires a rare blend of consumer intuition, analytical rigor, and execution depth, working closely with Content, Product, Analytics, Marketing and Partnerships teams. We are looking for a Director – Growth Strategy to drive the next phase of D2C subscriber growth at scale. This role will own high-impact strategic initiatives aimed at unlocking the next 50 million subscribers, with a strong focus on consumer insights, monetisation levers, and cross-functional execution.
Responsibilities
- Growth Strategy & Market Expansion
- Define and drive the roadmap to acquire the next D2C subscribers
- Identify new growth vectors across pricing, packaging, distribution, and content
- Build strategies for non-digitally native and under-penetrated segments in India
- Monetisation & Access Innovation like alternative payments & pricing
- Translate macro trends (regional, linguistic, device access, payments) into actionable plans
Consumer Insights & Behavioural Deep-Dives
- Lead deep dives into user cohorts, funnels, and lifecycle behaviours
- Partner with Analytics to uncover conversion drivers, drop-offs, and engagement triggers
- Build a strong understanding of content-consumption vs subscription behaviour
- Translate insights into clear “so-what” actions for growth and retention
Content-Led Growth Strategy
- Work with Content teams to:
- Design content calendars optimized for subscription spikes and retention
- Evaluate content ROI from a subscriber lens (not just viewership)
- Identify gaps in content strategy for acquisition vs retention
- Build frameworks linking: Content type → User segment → Conversion impact
Cross-Functional Execution
- Own end-to-end delivery of key initiatives across:
- Product
- Martech / CRM
- Analytics
- Content
- Drive alignment across teams with clear goals, timelines, and success metrics
Qualifications
- 8-10+ years in strategy + execution roles in consumer tech / D2C / internet businesses.
Required Skills
- Proven track record of driving growth, monetisation, or market expansion initiatives
- Consumer Insight Depth: Ability to go beyond data and understand “why users behave the way they do”
- Analytical Rigor: Comfortable working closely with data teams & large data sets; strong problem structuring; Guesstimates
- Execution Bias: Ability to move from idea → pilot → scale
- Stakeholder Management: Strong influence across content, product, and analytics teams, independently working with them to drive workstreams
- Strategic Thinking: Can connect multiple levers (content, pricing, distribution) into a coherent growth plan
