Job Description
Visa is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Director – Cross Border (Growth & Initiatives) as part of the Product org for India & South Asia. This role owns the end‑to‑end strategy, governance, and execution of Visa’s most complex and high‑impact cross‑border initiatives, spanning payment success rate (PSR) improvements, authentication readiness, acquiring expansion, and strategic pilots with issuers and acquirers.
The Director will operate as a senior leader, representing Visa in driving engagements with issuers, acquirers, and ecosystem partners, while also serving as the internal orchestrator across Product, Risk, Technology, Client Services, Legal, and PMO. This role combines strategic ownership, commercial accountability, and executive influence, with clear accountability for business outcomes.
Essential Functions
End‑to‑End Program & Commercial Ownership:
- Own the strategy, prioritization, and delivery of multiple cross‑border programs with clear accountability for outcomes (e.g., PSR uplift, Spend uplift, Acceptance expansion)
- Translate regional and global cross‑border priorities into executable market programs, with defined success metrics, milestones, and governance cadence.
- Drive commercialization of cross‑border initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, adopted by clients, and deliver measurable business impact.
Executive Issuer & Acquirer Engagement
- Lead negotiations on pilots, operating models, technical changes, and risk/coverage constructs required to unlock cross‑border growth.
- Build durable, trust‑based partnerships that position Visa as a strategic cross‑border partner, not just a network provider.
Payment Success, Risk & Platform Enablement
- Own PSR improvement programs end‑to‑end, including issuer adoption of authentication solutions, recovery of ECI‑7 declined volumes, and readiness on disputes and chargebacks.
- Coordinate closely with Risk, Authentication, and Technology teams to balance friction reduction with security, compliance, and resilience.
- Drive acquiring expansion and cross‑border merchant enablement, working with acquirers, PayFacs, and ecosystem partners to scale acceptance.
Regional–Global Leadership & Representation
- Represent India & South Asia in APAC and global cross‑border forums, contributing market perspective and shaping global capability roadmaps.
- Translate global cross‑border capabilities into locally compliant, executable solutions aligned to regulatory and market realities.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- 11+ years of experience in payments, financial services, or fintech, with significant exposure to cross‑border, cards, or acceptance ecosystems.
- Proven ability to own and deliver complex, multi‑stakeholder programs with commercial and operational impact.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and influencing C‑suite and senior executives at issuers, acquirers, or large ecosystem partners.
- Strong executive presence with a track record of leading large, cross‑functional initiatives in matrixed environments.
- Deep understanding of payment economics, risk/authentication dynamics, and regulatory considerations in cross‑border payments.
- Strategic, analytical thinker with the ability to move from concept to scaled execution.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
