About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director – VoIP & Telephony Engineering to lead the design, delivery, and operational excellence of our enterprise communication infrastructure.
This role will own the overall VoIP / SIP / PBX architecture, drive modernization and scalability initiatives, lead a technical team, and ensure the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical telephony platforms. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, SIP infrastructure, open-source dialers, IVR systems, and real-time communication platforms, along with proven experience in technology leadership, team management, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Architecture
Define and drive the roadmap for VoIP, SIP, PBX, IVR, dialer, and real-time communication systems
Architect scalable, secure, and highly available telephony platforms aligned with business needs
Lead platform modernization, migrations, performance optimization, and infrastructure resilience initiatives
Platform Ownership
Oversee deployment, customization, troubleshooting, and optimization of Asterisk / FreeSWITCH based systems
Own architecture and implementation of:
Dial plans / XML call flows
AGI scripting and telephony automation
IVR / IVRS solutions
Auto-reminder and voice broadcasting systems
Call center and conferencing environments
SIP trucking, routing, failover, and voice quality optimization
Support Kamailio / Open SIPS based SIP proxy and routing environments
Drive adoption and support for WebRTC, voice logger systems, and backend telephony applications
Leadership & Delivery
Lead and mentor a team of VoIP engineers, telephony developers, and infrastructure specialists
Own end-to-end delivery of telephony-related projects, upgrades, migrations, and enhancements
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Leadership teams to align technical execution with business goals
Drive technical governance, documentation, process improvements, and engineering best practices
Operations & Reliability
Ensure platform uptime, monitoring, performance, backup, and disaster recovery readiness
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of production-critical telephony and voice quality issues
Establish strong controls around security, availability, system health, and operational continuity
Required Experience
8–12+ years of experience in VoIP / SIP / PBX / Telephony engineering
3–5+ years in a technical leadership / architecture / team management role
Proven experience managing business-critical telephony infrastructure and communication platforms
Core Technical Expertise
Strong hands-on and architectural experience with:
Asterisk | FreeSWITCH | SIP / VoIP | Dialplan Programming | XML Programming | AGI Scripting | IVRS / IVR Design | Call Center Setup |
Conference Systems | Voice Broadcasting | Auto Reminder Systems | Voice Logger | SIP Proxy / Routing
Working knowledge of:
Kamailio | OpenSIPS | Dialer / Open Source Support
Experience with:
VicidialNow | OSDial | ASTPP Billing Software | Development / Scripting |
Familiarity with:
Lua | Perl | PHP | Node.js | Erlang | CURL | memcache | Infrastructure / Systems
Strong understanding of:
Linux System Administration | LAMP Stack | WebRTC | RabbitMQ | Database Administration
Database experience preferred:
Oracle / OCP Certified is an added advantage
