Director, Organic & Content (POD Lead)

THE ROLE
You own GoComet's entire organic visibility engine — strategy, team, pipeline contribution, and
continuous improvement. You decide where we play, what winning looks like, and how the pod's two
production branches (information-gain content and original research) combine with distribution and
entity strength to build a compounding moat. You lead a small, high-caliber team and direct AI systems
that handle volume, structure, and measurement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Foundation & Strategy
• Decompose our ICPs and JTBD into actionable clusters.
• Build and maintain the topic universe with winnability filters, demand mapping, and query/prompt
landscapes for both traditional search and answer engines.
• Set the quarterly cluster roadmap with information-gain hypotheses.
Team Leadership
• Direct a pod of 3–4 senior ICs: Senior Content Strategist, Lead – Original Research, Lead – Entity &
Distribution.
• Run weekly leading-indicator reviews, monthly performance deep dives, and quarterly strategy resets with
senior leadership.
Editorial & Conversion Architecture
• Act as the senior editorial brain — approve all major briefs against the six information-gain types.
• QA high-stakes assets and own the conversion path design from top-of-funnel content through to pipeline.
Measurement Loop
• Own the continuous measurement stack (leading indicators weekly, lagging indicators monthly) that ties
organic directly to pipeline and revenue.
• Reprioritize clusters and tactics based on signal, not just opinion.
AI Systems Oversight
• Partner with the AI Systems Lead to ensure the four AI capabilities (context aggregation, publishing,
distribution, measurement) are built, maintained, and actually reducing human toil.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
✓ Within 12 months: GoComet has a defensible organic footprint in priority clusters and a functioning
measurement loop. ✓ Within 36 months: The organic engine is a primary, compounding moat — entity
confidence, proprietary research citations, and content authority that competitors cannot easily dislodge.
✓ Team operating as a tuned engine rather than a campaign factory.
WHO YOU ARE
• 8+ years in B2B SaaS organic growth, content strategy, or demand generation with heavy organic
component.
• At least 3 years leading a content or organic function.
• Deep understanding of modern search dynamics — AI Overviews, LLM citations, entity-based authority,
and information gain principles.
• Experience building and running a measurement framework that ties content investment to pipeline and
revenue, not just traffic.
• Comfort working with AI-native workflows — fluent in directing AI systems for research, drafting, and
distribution.
• Strong editorial instinct: you can kill a bad brief on sight and sharpen a good one.
