Key Responsibilities – Direct Purchase Buyer (4–5 Years’
Experience)
1. Direct Material Procurement
o Handle procurement of direct materials such as raw materials, sheet metal
parts, machined components, plastics, electronics, fasteners, etc.
o Ensure uninterrupted supply to meet production schedules.
2. Supplier Sourcing & Development
o Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers for cost, quality, and delivery
improvements.
o Manage Approved Vendor List (AVL) and ensure vendor capability alignment.
3. RFQ Management & Costing
o Float RFQs, analyse quotations, and prepare detailed techno-commercial
comparisons.
o Participate in should-costing and benchmarking for cost optimization.
4. Price Negotiation & Cost Reduction
o Lead negotiations for pricing, payment terms, and contracts.
o Drive cost reduction initiatives (VA/VE, localization, alternate sourcing).
5. Purchase Order & Contract Management
o Release POs/Rate Contracts as per production plans and project timelines.
o Ensure compliance with agreed commercial terms.
6. Supplier Performance Management
o Monitor supplier KPIs (Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Responsiveness).
o Conduct supplier reviews and implement corrective actions.
7. Production & Planning Coordination
o Work closely with PPC (Production Planning & Control) for forecast and
scheduling.
o Ensure material readiness to meet production targets.
8. Inventory & Lead Time Optimization
o Maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce excess/obsolete stock.
o Improve lead times through supplier coordination and planning.
9. Quality & Issue Resolution
o Coordinate with Quality team for supplier quality issues.
o Ensure timely closure of rejections, deviations, and corrective actions.
10. Project Procurement / NPD Support
Support new product development by sourcing new components.
Ensure timely sourcing as per project milestones.
11. ERP & MIS Reporting
Handle procurement transactions in ERP (SAP/Oracle).
Generate MIS reports for cost tracking, savings, and supplier performance.
12. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to company policies, audit requirements (ISO / IATF 16949).
Maintain proper documentation for contracts, POs, and sourcing decisions.
