The mandate
This role sits inside the digital function of a technology organisation within one of India's most recognised lending businesses. It is not a product strategy role and it is not a marketing role. It is the role accountable for the performance of the digital layer — the owned digital assets through which customers interact with, adopt, and deepen their relationship with the lending business.
The person in this role owns what happens after a lending product is built: how customers find it, engage with it, and are served through it at scale. The digital estate includes customer portal, website, chatbot, and self-serve journeys. The mandate is to make these assets work harder — for acquisition, activation, cross-sell, and retention — using technology, not campaigns.
What you will own
- End-to-end ownership of customer-facing digital assets: website, customer portal, chatbot, self-serve journeys for lending products
- Business performance of these assets — measured by activation rates, cross-sell penetration, drop-off reduction, and digital adoption metrics
- UI/UX strategy and execution in close partnership with design and engineering — with accountability for what ships, not just what is recommended
- CRM platform ownership from the technology side — configuration, workflow logic, integration with lending systems, not campaign execution
- Marketing automation tooling from a technology and integration lens — owning the plumbing that enables personalisation and triggered communications
- Roadmap and prioritisation across the digital asset portfolio, balancing business impact with engineering feasibility
- Cross-functional delivery: working across engineering, business, compliance, and customer experience without losing the thread
What the role demands
- Deep familiarity with BFSI or fintech lending — credit, home loans, LAP, personal lending, or similar. Regulatory context is not optional here
- Technology as your native language — you have worked within or alongside engineering, understand platform architecture, and can have an informed view on build vs. buy and integration choices
- Ownership of digital asset P&L or equivalent business metrics — you have been measured on whether the digital channel performed, not just whether it launched
- CRM and marketing automation fluency from the product and technology side — you have configured, integrated, or overseen these platforms, not just consumed their outputs
- UI/UX sensibility grounded in regulated, trust-led categories — you understand that financial services UX is as much about confidence and compliance as it is about delight
- Comfort operating in large, matrixed organisations where delivery requires influence without authority
Experience profile
- 12–16 years total experience, with substantial time in financial services — banking, NBFC, lending, or fintech (product side, not services or consulting)
- At least one extended tenure owning a digital asset or channel within a lending or banking organisation
- Engineering background or demonstrated depth of technical collaboration — MBA preferred in addition, not instead
- Track record of driving measurable business outcomes from digital touchpoints, not just launching features
