Role Description
The Strategy Director will play a central role in delivering exceptional strategic support to clients, combining senior stakeholder management with hands-on project delivery. Sitting at the intersection of project management, senior client engagement, and active execution of workstreams, this role requires someone equally comfortable leading projects and contributing directly to them.
Working closely with commercial leadership, strategy, sales, and analytics partners, the Strategy Director will ensure that client strategy and sponsorship sales projects are delivered to the highest possible standard. Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, the role will initially focus on project delivery, with scope to evolve into managing more junior strategy team members.
This is a senior, high-impact position suited to an individual with a strong background in commercial revenue processes for sports rights-holders. The ideal candidate will be confident building senior client relationships, skilled in leveraging data to craft compelling commercial narratives, and experienced in developing high-quality client-facing materials that clearly and effectively showcase strategic output.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Take an active leadership role in at least one major client project.
- Lead go-to-market processes on behalf of sports rights-holders, securing one or multiple partners through proactive outreach.
- Lead new, high-profile client engagements from the outset.
- Ensure all workstreams are delivered within agreed timelines and processes are clearly communicated to both client and internal teams.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and own senior client relationships throughout project lifecycles.
- Deliver regular communication, structured briefings, and high-quality servicing.
- Address client concerns proactively, adjust strategic direction where necessary, and mitigate risks to maximise project success.
Active Delivery of Workstreams
- Take a hands-on role in delivering strategic workstreams alongside project oversight.
- Collaborate with strategy, operations, sales, and creative functions to produce high-quality outputs.
- Develop professional client presentations, primarily in Microsoft PowerPoint, articulating complex insights in a clear, structured, and persuasive manner.
- Ensure all materials meet a high standard of clarity, logic, and visual quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Whilst this role does not (in the first instance) have any direct managerial responsibilities, this is something which we envision will change in future
- The role will require collaboration across functions. A typical go-to-market process involves strategy (prospecting, creation of sales narratives & USPs), operations (go-to-market outreach, engagement strategy), sales (prospect engagement, pitches, contracting) and creative (creation of marketing materials, sales collateral, gifting/pitch creation etc.) – the Strategy Director will need to be the glue that holds all of these processes together
- Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Strategy Director must balance the workload and resources of the team across all projects, ensuring resource is balanced.
Process Optimisation
- Continuously review and improve commercial and delivery processes.
- Leverage experience to identify opportunities for optimisation and increased effectiveness.
- Participate in structured check-ins focused on performance, process evolution, and long-term improvement.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Strong background in delivering revenue strategies, ideally within sports rights-holder environments.
- Deep understanding of sponsorship sales processes, deal structuring, and value maximisation.
- Strong knowledge of go-to-market mechanics, pipeline design, sales process architecture, and commercial performance measurement.
- Comfortable working with structured datasets and analytical tools; strong ability to interpret and apply data-driven insights.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong analytical reasoning, commercial judgement, and decision-making capability.
- Advanced presentation development skills, with the ability to communicate complex arguments clearly and concisely.
- High proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
