Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Digital Marketing Intern with a strong interest in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to support our firm's online visibility, content strategy, and client acquisition initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about digital marketing within a professional services environment to gain hands-on experience in legal marketing, compliance-aware content creation, and data-driven SEO.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct keyword research focused on legal practice areas (e.g., family law, commercial law, property law, litigation, etc.) and identify high-intent search terms used by potential clients.
- Optimize the firm's website pages, practice area pages, attorney bios, and blog content for on-page SEO (meta tags, headings, internal links, schema markup, URL structure).
- Perform technical SEO audits to identify and help resolve issues such as page speed, mobile responsiveness, crawl errors, and broken links.
- SupportLocal SEOefforts critical to a law firm — managing and optimizing the Google Business Profile, building local citations, generating client reviews, and improving "near me" search visibility.
- Assist in producing SEO-optimized legal content, including blog articles, FAQs, case studies, and practice area landing pages — ensuring all content aligns with legal advertising rules and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with attorneys and senior marketing staff to translate complex legal topics into client-friendly, search-optimized content.
- Conduct competitor analysis against other law firms to identify content gaps, backlink opportunities, and ranking opportunities.
- Support ethical, white-hat link-building activities, including legal directory submissions (e.g., Lawyers.com.au, FindLaw, LegalVision, local bar association listings), guest posts, and outreach.
- Monitor and report on SEO performance using Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console, Ahrefs/SEMrush -tracking organic traffic, keyword rankings, lead enquiries, and conversion metrics.
- Assist in managing the firm's social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) with SEO-aligned content and thought leadership posts from attorneys.
- Support email marketing campaigns, client newsletters, and legal updates as needed.
- Ensure all marketing content complies with relevant legal advertising regulations (e.g., Legal Profession Uniform Law, state bar association rules, and ASIC guidelines where applicable).
- Stay current with Google algorithm updates, legal industry marketing trends, and best practices, sharing insights with the team.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, IT, or a related field. Candidates with a law/legal studies background and an interest in marketing are also encouraged to apply.
- Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals (on-page, off-page, technical, and local SEO).
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, or similar.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and CMS platforms (WordPress preferred) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clearly about complex topics.
- Strong attention to detail — essential for professional services and legal content.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
- Self-motivated, professional, and able to manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Discretion and confidentiality when handling firm and client-related information.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Prior internship, coursework, or certifications related to SEO/Digital Marketing (e.g., Google Digital Garage, HubSpot Academy, SEMrush Academy).
- Experience writing in professional, B2B, or legal/financial sectors.
- Understanding of legal advertising compliance and ethical marketing standards.
- Basic understanding of paid advertising (Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads).
