About The Role
Qualcomm India Private Limited is seeking a highly experienced and passionate VLSI Digital Design Engineer to join the WLAN PHY team in Bangalore. This role involves leading the development of cutting-edge IPs for the latest WiFi standards, including 802.11ax and beyond. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, and verifying complex digital IPs that form the backbone of Qualcomm’s WiFi solutions. As part of a dynamic team of domain experts, you will work on end-to-end signal processing chains, from antenna samples post-ADC to raw bits for upper layers and vice versa. Your expertise will contribute to delivering high-performance, power-efficient, and area-optimized solutions that meet the evolving demands of high-speed wireless communication systems. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 12 to 20 years of hands-on experience in micro-architecting and developing complex IPs within the VLSI domain. You should have a strong background in digital design, VLSI concepts, and experience in creating power and area-efficient IPs across multiple clock domains. Proficiency in RTL coding, particularly Verilog, is essential, along with familiarity with RTL QA flows such as PLDRC, CDC, and CLP. Candidates with experience in proposing alternative design solutions to optimize area, power, and performance metrics will be preferred. Leadership experience, including guiding or managing junior team members, is advantageous. A proven track record of successfully taking IP designs from requirements to silicon is mandatory. While not compulsory, prior experience in wireless technologies such as WLAN, LTE, NR, Bluetooth, UWB, or HLS development will be considered a plus. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and verification of digital IP blocks for WiFi PHY solutions, ensuring they meet performance, power, and area targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including system architects, signal processing engineers, and verification teams to develop comprehensive solutions aligned with product requirements.
- Propose and evaluate design alternatives, providing technical reviews and presenting solutions to stakeholders for approval.
- Develop and maintain RTL code in Verilog, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Conduct design and functional verification, including CDC checks, timing analysis, and debugging of complex data-path and control-path IPs.
- Participate in the integration and validation of IPs within larger chip designs, supporting silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation activities.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Stay updated with emerging wireless standards and signal processing algorithms to incorporate into future IP developments.
- Contribute to documentation, design reviews, and process improvements to enhance team productivity and quality standards.
