About the role

Digantara is a leading Space Surveillance and Intelligence company focused on ensuring orbital safety and sustainability. With expertise in space-based detection, tracking, identification, and monitoring, Digantara provides comprehensive domain awareness across regimes, allowing end users to have actionable intelligence on a single platform. At the core of its infrastructure lies a sophisticated integration of hardware and software capabilities aligned with the key principles of situational awareness: perception (data collection), comprehension (data processing), and prediction (analytics). This holistic approach empowers Digantara to monitor all Resident Space Objects (RSOs) in orbit, fostering comprehensive domain awareness.

Digantara is seeking a Senior Satellite Electrical Power System (EPS) engineer to conceptualize, architect the cubesat/microsat power system. You will leverage the experience in leading a team of multi-disciplinary engineers to design, develop and realize EPS for cubesat/microsat in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Why Us?

  • Competitive incentives, galvanizing workspace, blazing team—pretty much everything you have heard about a startup + you get to work on space technology.
  • Hustle in a well-funded startup allowing you to take charge of your responsibilities and create your moonshot.

Ideal Candidate

  • Someone with experience in leading the design, development of cubesat/microsat electrical power system with strong focus on miniaturization and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the Cubesat/Microsat EPS and optimize the configuration to meet the electrical requirements.
  • Carry out EPS subsystem level trade-off studies in collaboration with other subsystem, system engineers and select power system components.
  • Lead the team of solar panel, battery and power electronics engineers towards successful realization of EPS.
  • Analyse the power budget under various mission scenarios, study the energy balance for LEO satellites and maintain specifications, interface control documents.
  • Lead the engineers to design power conditioning, power control, battery management circuits and analyse simulation, test results.
  • Develop comprehensive test procedures for EPS at subsystem, satellite level and resolve the observations during subsystem/satellite integration and test phases.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or M.Tech/M.E or PhD degree in Electrical/Electronics/Power electronics.
  • 6 to 10 years of demonstrated experience in design, development of EPS for LEO satellites.
  • Strong expertise in power bus architecture, power conditioning, power control & distribution and battery management circuit design.
  • Knowledge of cubesat/microsat solar panel and battery characterization with good understanding of interactions between power source and energy storage.
  • Proficiency in PCB schematic design (OrCAD/Altium) and simulation tools PSPICE/LTspice.
  • Experience in implementation of EMI control at the power source level.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for cubesat/microsat EPS hardware development.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with EPS modelling & simulation in MATLAB/Simulink or python.
  • Prior experience in successfully leading a multi-disciplinary team for design and development activities.
  • Familiarity with solar panel/battery fabrication and assembly procedures.
  • Good understanding of satellite subsystems and systems-first development approach.
  • Familiarity with Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) to test satellite EPS.
  • Knowledge on latest advancements in miniaturization of EPS for small satellites.

General Requirements

  • Ability to work in a mission-focused, operational environment.
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions.
  • Interpersonal skills to enable working in a diverse and dynamic team.
