GEL is setting up a greenfield Integrated Steel Plant at Bhadrawati (Chandrapur) in the state of Maharashtra, having capacity of 0.4 MTPA finished steel, along with 1.2 MTPA Iron Ore Pellet Plant, 65000 NM3/Hr of Syn Gas based on Coal Gasification Technology, and other auxiliary units along with these capacities.
Role Summary:
Position: DGM/GM – Civil Engineering (Steel Plant Project)
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech – Civil Engineering
Experience: 15–20+ Years
Industry Preference: Steel/Metals/Heavy Industrial Projects
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Civil Engineering professional for civil engineering and construction activities for our upcoming integrated steel plant project. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in industrial project execution — particularly within steel plant environments — and demonstrate strong capability in engineering, planning, stakeholder coordination, execution, and end-to-end site management for large-scale greenfield/brownfield builds.
Key Responsibilities
• Review of Detail Engineering design and drawing, Project Execution & Planning
• End-to-end civil construction activities for the steel plant project, from planning through commissioning
• Plan, monitor, and ensure timely completion of all civil works within budget and quality parameters
• Review civil drawings, BOQs, layouts, technical specifications, and construction methodologies
• Identify project risks, delays, and cost overruns; implement timely corrective measures
Site & Construction Management
• Supervise site execution including foundations, RCC structures, structural steel-supporting works, roads, drainage, utilities, and industrial infrastructure
• Monitor project progress, manpower deployment, contractor billing, and material utilization
• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, statutory regulations, and quality norms across all civil works
Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, architects, and internal stakeholders for seamless project delivery
• Drive contractor and vendor performance, ensuring adherence to project timelines and deliverables
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and project management teams for fully integrated execution
Reporting & Governance
• Track budget utilization, cost control measures, and overall project health
Desired Candidate Profile
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory)
• Project Management degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum 15–20 years of experience in industrial/steel plant project execution
• Prior hands-on experience in greenfield steel plant setup (mandatory)
• Proven track record in large-scale EPC, greenfield, or brownfield industrial projects
• Strong command of civil engineering and construction practices and project management tools
• Excellent leadership, contractor management, and cross-functional coordination skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven project environment
