Job details:
Role Overview
We are seeking engineers with proven hands-on DevOps/Cloud/Platform/infrastructure (AWS) to join an Agile product squad at Lloyd’s List Intelligence.
This is not a support or maintenance-only role. We are specifically looking for an engineer who designs, builds, automates and improves systems, rather than someone who simply follows instructions or executes predefined tasks.
You will collaborate daily with backend (.NET & Python) engineers, QA and product owners, taking shared ownership of cloud architecture, CI/CD and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
AWS Architecture & Cloud Engineering
- Design, build and evolve AWS infrastructure across services such as:
- EC2, Auto Scaling Groups, S3, RDS
- OpenSearch, Redshift, Athena
- Kinesis, DataSync
- Security aspect for all the services
- IAM, VPC, CloudWatch
- Improve scalability, reliability, performance, and cost optimization.
- Proactively identify architectural improvements and implement them.
- Take ownership of environment design across dev, staging and production.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform.
- Create reusable, modular infrastructure definitions.
- Eliminate manual provisioning and reduce configuration drift.
- Multi-environment and security best practices.
CI/CD Engineering
- Design and implement automated CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Code Build).
- Integrate testing, security scanning, and quality gates into pipelines.
- Implement zero-downtime deployment strategies where applicable.
- Continuously improve deployment speed, reliability and developer experience.
We expect ownership of pipeline design decisions, not just maintenance of existing jobs.
Automation & Scripting
- Automate repetitive operational tasks.
- Integrate AWS services programmatically where required.
- Improve observability and monitoring practices.
- Write SOP documents for all alerts
Collaboration & Agile Participation
- Work closely with developers in sprint cycles.
- Participate in stand-ups, planning sessions, and design discussions.
- Partner with backend engineers on release strategy and environment improvements.
- Demonstrate shared accountability for system stability and delivery.
This role requires someone who collaborates proactively, not someone who works in isolation.
Required Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on AWS experience in production environments.
- Strong experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines from scratch.
- Demonstrated ability to improve systems (cost, performance, deployment speed, reliability).
- Strong Linux fundamentals.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- You identify inefficiencies and automate them.
- You suggest and implement architectural improvements.
- You design pipelines and infrastructure with long-term sustainability in mind.
- You act as a true engineering partner within the Agile squad.
This position suits an engineer who thinks in terms of ownership, automation and continuous improvement, not task execution alone.
