Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Architect to design, implement, and govern scalable, secure, and cost-optimized cloud platforms on Microsoft Azure. The role requires deep expertise in Azure platform architecture, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and DevOps practices, along with the ability to design highly available architectures (Active-Active deployments), work with Azure managed services, and mentor DevOps teams.
A strong focus on cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Platform Engineering
- Design and own end-to-end cloud architecture on Microsoft Azure.
- Define Azure landing zones, platform guardrails, and reusable cloud components.
- Architect highly available and resilient systems, including Active-Active deployment patterns.
- Design architectures for stateful and monolithic applications running in distributed environments.
- Ensure platforms meet security, scalability, reliability, and compliance standards.
Azure Platform & Managed Services
- Strong experience with Azure Managed Services such as:
- API Management (APIM)
- Azure App Services
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Azure Functions
- Azure Service Bus / Event Hub
- Azure Storage & Azure SQL
- Design scalable API gateway and integration architectures using Azure services.
- Architect secure connectivity using VNETs, private endpoints, and hybrid networking.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Lead IaC strategy using tools such as:
- Terraform
- ARM / Bicep
- Establish standards for modular, reusable, and version-controlled infrastructure.
- Drive an automation-first mindset for provisioning and configuration.
CI/CD & DevOps Practices
- Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools such as:
- Azure DevOps
- GitHub Actions
- Enable automated:
- Build
- Test
- Security scanning
- Deployment pipelines
- Promote DevSecOps practices and shift-left security.
Cloud Operations & Reliability
- Define observability standards including logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Implement monitoring using tools such as:
- Azure Monitor
- Log Analytics
- Prometheus
- Support SRE practices including SLIs, SLOs, and incident management.
- Architect solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, and resilience.
Cost Optimization & FinOps
- Lead cloud cost optimization initiatives across Azure environments.
- Implement cost optimization strategies including:
- Right-sizing compute and storage
- Reserved Instances / Savings Plans
- Auto-scaling strategies
- Storage lifecycle management
- Establish cost visibility, governance, and budgeting models.
- Collaborate with engineering and finance teams on FinOps practices.
Leadership & Governance
- Lead and mentor Infra and DevOps engineering teams.
- Review architecture designs, pipelines, and IaC implementations.
- Define DevOps standards, guardrails, and operating models.
- Collaborate with application, security, and enterprise architecture teams.
Required Skills & Experience
Azure Architecture
- Deep hands-on experience with Azure platform architecture.
- Strong understanding of Azure Managed Services, especially APIM and integration services.
- Experience designing Active-Active architectures and resilient cloud deployments.
- Ability to design architectures for monolithic and microservices-based applications.
DevOps & Automation
- Strong expertise in Terraform / Bicep / ARM.
- Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
- Experience with container platforms:
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- AKS
Networking & Security
- Strong understanding of Azure networking:
- VNETs
- NSGs
- Private endpoints
- Hybrid connectivity
- Identity & security:
- Azure AD
- RBAC
- Managed identities
Cost & Optimization
- Proven experience driving Azure cost optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cost Management tools.
- Understanding of FinOps governance models.
