Role Description The Development Manager role at SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd. is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The role involves recruiting, training, and developing a productive team of insurance advisors, supporting them in achieving sales and business development targets. Responsibilities include guiding the team on product offerings, sales processes, and compliance requirements, as well as monitoring performance, providing regular coaching, and conducting review meetings. The Development Manager also works with branch leadership to plan local marketing activities, build strong customer relationships, and ensure high levels of service and policy persistency. The role requires proactive field engagement, regular reporting, and continuous improvement of sales and development practices.
Qualifications
- Strong sales and business development skills, with the ability to meet and exceed insurance sales targets.
- Experience in team management, including recruiting, mentoring, and performance coaching of advisors or sales personnel.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills for engaging customers, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
- Understanding of life insurance products, financial planning concepts, and regulatory and compliance guidelines (IRDAI knowledge preferred).
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai with regular field visits, and to manage time and territory effectively.
- Proficiency in basic digital tools (MS Office, CRM or sales tracking systems) and comfort with using digital platforms for sales and training.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a background in finance, business, or insurance is an advantage.
- Prior experience in insurance, banking, or financial services sales is highly beneficial.
