Company Description
Craste develops high-performance materials from agricultural crop residue through patented manufacturing technology. The product line is carbon negative, formaldehyde-free, and timber-independent - addressing crop burning, indoor air quality, and deforestation simultaneously. Sustainable innovation and industrial-grade performance are core to everything built here. The work extends beyond the factory - directly supporting farmer livelihoods and driving grassroots impact at the source of the supply chain.
Role Description
A hands-on role focused on adhesive formulation development - from lab trials and characterisation through to industrial-scale implementation.
The role bridges laboratory work and real-world application, with the expectation of translating formulation insights into processes that perform at production scale.
• Develop and optimize adhesive formulations for binder systems used in engineered composites
• Plan and execute laboratory trials with structured documentation
• Perform material characterization and translate results into clear, actionable findings
• Maintain detailed records and prepare technical reports
• Identify gaps in formulation performance and propose data-driven improvements
• Support the scale-up of formulations from lab to production level
• Maintain lab inventory, chemical storage, and equipment in accordance with safety and operational standards
• Work closely with the engineering and product teams to align formulation outcomes with application requirements
Qualifications
• B.Sc. / M.Sc. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
• Strong laboratory skills, including safe handling of chemicals, experimental design, and accurate data recording
• Background in R&D, including formulation development, testing, and scale-up support is an advantage
• Knowledge of polymers, polymer blends, or composite materials, preferably in construction or industrial applications
• Familiarity with test method development, routine testing, and interpretation of results for process improvements
• Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and basic statistical methods for experimental analysis is an advantage
• Ability to interpret technical literature and relevant material standards
• Understanding of scale-up considerations in an industrial context is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as cross-functionally
• Interest in sustainability, circular economy, and environmentally responsible material development
• Clear documentation habits and working proficiency in MS Office
