Job Purpose:
To design innovative, functional, and market-relevant leather bags and wallets, translating concepts into commercially viable products while coordinating with sampling, production, and merchandising teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development
- Design leather bags and wallets as per seasonal trends, buyer briefs, and brand guidelines
- Create sketches, technical drawings, and design concepts (hand sketches / CAD)
- Develop new styles, structures, and constructions for bags, wallets, and small leather goods
- Prepare detailed tech packs including measurements, materials, colorways, and hardware details
- Material & Component Selection
- Select appropriate leather types, linings, threads, zippers, fittings, and accessories
- Coordinate with leather procurement and accessory suppliers
- Ensure materials meet quality, durability, and cost requirements
- Sampling & Coordination
- Work closely with sampling and production teams to develop prototypes
- Review samples and suggest improvements in design, functionality, and aesthetics
- Ensure samples match buyer specifications and design intent
- Trend & Market Research
- Research international fashion trends, colors, silhouettes, and finishes
- Analyze competitor products and buyer feedback
- Develop collections aligned with market demand and brand positioning
- Cost & Production Feasibility
- Design products keeping cost, manufacturability, and timelines in mind
- Support merchandising team in cost estimation and value engineering
- Modify designs for bulk production feasibility
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with buyer quality standards and testing requirements
- Support QC during pilot and initial production if required
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of leather types, tanning finishes, and construction techniques
- Proficiency in design software (CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Understanding of bag & wallet patterns, stitching, edge finishing, and hardware fixing
- Creative, detail-oriented, and trend-aware
- Good coordination and communication skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Degree / Diploma in Fashion Design, Leather Design, or related field
- 2–5 years’ experience in leather bags & wallets design (export house preferred)
- Experience in handling buyer-based designs is an added advantage

Salary: 25k to 45k as per efficiency & experience
