Design Lead | Unispace Bangalore
Unispace is looking for a Design Lead who thrives in the thick of the action rather than the quiet of a corner office. This isn't a role for someone who only wants to conceptualize; it's for the high-impact professional who can seamlessly bridge the gap between design excellence, high-level client relationships, and project execution.
Based primarily in Bangalore (with flexibility for exceptional candidates in Mumbai, Delhi, or Pune), you will report to the Sr. Principal Design in Mumbai.
The Multi-Faceted Reality of the Role
In this position, you aren't just a leader; you are the connective tissue that ensures our vision, our business strategy, and our final delivery are perfectly aligned. On any given day, you will be expected to:
Command the Boardroom: Read a room in seconds and present a design vision so persuasive that even skeptical C-suite executives are ready to sign on the spot.
Fix the Floorplan: Work directly with your design team to catch spatial issues early, redirecting concepts before they veer off track.
Win the Work: Review and rewrite RFP narratives to ensure they truly reflect how our design solves a client’s unique business problems.
Drive Revenue: Take shared responsibility for revenue targets alongside the client solutions team.
Your Core Responsibilities
Design Authority: You own the quality of every project, setting the standards that distinguish Unispace from the competition.
Client Whisperer: You build deep trust with C-level clients, interpreting their unspoken needs and generating repeat business through your judgment.
Team Builder: You lead, recruit, and mentor a team of 10+, fostering a culture where talent stays, grows, and eventually takes over parts of your scope.
The "Adult in the Room" : You navigate complex internal and client politics, ensuring what we pitch is exactly what we deliver—beautifully and with integrity.
The Non-Negotiables
To be successful, you must bring a specific blend of experience and "hustle":
Experience: 15+ years in corporate/workplace design for Fortune 500 or major global clients.
The "Closer" Instinct: A proven track record of personally winning competitive RFPs through compelling storytelling.
Leadership: Experience building and managing design teams of at least 10 people.
Business Acumen: You understand P&L, project economics, and the commercial logic behind client decisions.
Hands-on Nature: You are never "too senior" to mark up a drawing or dive into the technical details when quality is at risk.
