Job Description
Design Manager – Ring Main Unit (Electrical & Mechanical)
Company: Transguard Electrical Systems
Location: Hyderabad
Experience: 5+ Years in Medium Voltage Switchgear / RMU Design
Role Summary
The Design Manager will be responsible for electrical and mechanical design of Ring Main Units (RMUs) including preparation of drawings, component selection, product customization, and coordination with production and testing teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Design
- Design 11kV RMUs (3-way, 4-way, 5-way, 6-way etc).
- Prepare electrical schematics, control wiring diagrams, and protection schemes.
- Selection of components.
- Ensure RMUs meet IEC / IS standards and utility specifications.
2. Mechanical Design
- Design RMU enclosure and internal layout.
- Develop busbar arrangement, cable compartments, and panel structure.
- Prepare 2D and 3D drawings using CAD tools.
3. Product Development
- Develop new RMU configurations and customized solutions.
- Support design for features such as:
- Extensible RMUs
- Metering RMUs
- SCADA compatible RMUs.
4. Documentation
Prepare and maintain:
- GA drawings
- Control schematics
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Technical datasheets
- Technical compliance for tenders.
5. Manufacturing & Testing Support
- Support production team during RMU assembly.
- Resolve design issues during manufacturing.
- Assist in type tests and routine tests.
