Role Description The Design Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Faridabad, responsible for leading the design function for automotive fasteners and related components. This role involves managing a team of designers, overseeing concept development, detailed design, and validation activities, and ensuring alignment with customer specifications and industry standards. The Design Manager will collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and sales teams to convert customer requirements into robust, manufacturable designs and support new product development initiatives. Daily responsibilities include reviewing and approving design drawings and 3D models, optimizing designs for performance and cost, coordinating design changes, and maintaining design documentation and standards. The role also includes mentoring team members, driving continuous improvement in design processes, and contributing to innovation projects that support STL’s growth in traditional and EV-related product lines.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in mechanical design and engineering fundamentals, including component design, material selection, and tolerance analysis.
- Hands-on experience with CAD/CAE tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar) and familiarity with product data management systems.
- Background in automotive or industrial manufacturing environments, preferably with fasteners, precision components, or EV-related systems.
- Proven ability to lead and develop design teams, manage multiple projects, and coordinate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and quality methodologies (e.g., APQP, PPAP, FMEA, ISO/TS or IATF standards).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on design optimization for performance, reliability, and cost.
- Clear and concise communication skills, including the ability to present design concepts and technical information to internal and external partners.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field; advanced qualifications are an advantage.
