Role Description
The Design Manager will oversee and lead the design team to create technical solutions for the manufacturing of plastic auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include managing design projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, reviewing designs for compliance with standards, and ensuring adherence to project timelines. The role requires the development of innovative and cost-effective solutions to enhance product efficiency and performance. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Chakan.
Qualifications
- Proficient in CAD tools, 3D modeling, and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Experience in leading and managing a design team
- Proficient in problem-solving and analytical skills for innovative design solutions
- Excellent project management and time management skills
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Experience in the plastics manufacturing industry is a significant advantage
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer requirements with the Sales Team and National Sales Manager (NSM)
- Recommend suitable technical products and engineering solutions
- Lead design and development of new products and machine customizations
- Create detailed engineering drawings and layouts
- Prepare CCS (Central Conveying System) layouts and hardware BOQ calculations
- Coordinate with Production Planning & Control (PPC) for drawing release and manufacturing support
- Work with the Purchase Team for component selection and vendor development

- Layouts
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and manufacturability
- Lead and mentor the design engineering team
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments for project execution
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Design
- Related Engineering Field
- 8–12 years of experience in:
- Product design
- Machine design
- Industrial equipment engineering
- Plastic industry equipment preferred
- Strong knowledge of:
- Manufacturing processes
- Materials selection
- Component engineering
- Industrial automation systems
Expertise in CAD software such as:
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- Similar 3D modeling tools
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience in plastic processing machinery or automation systems
- Knowledge of BOM/BOQ management
- Team leadership and project coordination
- Product customization and R&D exposure
- Understanding of industrial manufacturing standards
