Job Title: Design Manager – Mechanical

Role OverviewWe are looking for a high-caliber Design Manager – Mechanical to lead the engineering strategy, architecture, and execution of next-generation induction heating systems. This role demands a technically authoritative leader who can drive complex thermal-mechanical designs, build scalable engineering processes, and lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, high-performance industrial solutions.
You will act as the technical anchor and decision-maker, ensuring design excellence, innovation, and operational efficiency across all projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Design Authority- Own and drive the mechanical design architecture of induction heating systems including coils, cooling systems, structures, enclosures, and integration interfaces.
- Provide deep technical leadership in heat transfer, thermal management, electromagnetic interaction (mechanical aspects), and high-temperature material behavior.
- Lead design calculations, simulations (FEA/CFD), and validation strategies to ensure performance under demanding operating conditions.
- Establish and enforce engineering design standards, best practices, and design governance frameworks.
- Review and approve critical designs, ensuring robustness, safety, manufacturability, and lifecycle reliability.
Product Development & Innovation- Drive end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization with strong focus on innovation and performance optimization.
- Lead initiatives in design optimization, weight reduction, efficiency improvement, and cost engineering.
- Champion adoption of advanced engineering tools, simulation methodologies, and digital design practices.
- Translate customer requirements into scalable, modular, and configurable product designs.
Team Leadership & Capability Building- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performance mechanical design team, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Develop succession planning, skill development, and technical competency frameworks within the team.
- Act as a technical coach and reviewer, elevating the overall design capability of the organization.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Project & Stakeholder Management- Lead multiple high-value engineering projects with full accountability for delivery, quality, cost, and timelines.
- Interface with customers and key stakeholders as the technical expert, driving confidence and solution alignment.
- Collaborate with supply chain and vendors for critical component development and qualification.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments (FMEA), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manufacturing & Field Integration- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and field performance.
- Support production teams in troubleshooting, design corrections, and process improvements.
- Drive standardization and modularization for faster deployment and scalability.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 15–20 years of experience in industrial equipment design, with strong expertise in induction heating systems or similar high-temperature thermal systems.
- Proven track record in leading large-scale mechanical design projects and teams.
- Strong expertise in:
- Heat transfer and thermodynamics
- Cooling system design (water/air-based systems)
- Structural and fatigue analysis
- High-temperature materials and insulation systems
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks/Creo/NX) and simulation tools (ANSYS/COMSOL or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of DFM, DFA, GD&T, and industrial standards.
Preferred Experience- Experience in coil design, power-electronics interface (mechanical integration), and induction furnace systems
- Exposure to global engineering standards and export-oriented product development
- Experience in custom-built industrial solutions and engineered-to-order (ETO) environments
