Senior Design Manager for a leading Global Architecture and Design firm with clients in over 100 countries with a mission:to create a better world through the power of design.
Role overview:
As a Senior Design Manager (Architecture) you will lead the delivery of complex, high-impact projects across mixed-use sectors. This role blends design management leadership, project management, and client engagement.
What You Will Do
- Manage all phases of projects, including project set-up, design, and construction drawings, project timelines and schedules
- Manage a range of project team sizes, composed of project architects, interior designers, and job captains.
- Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges & quality control.
- Lead project coordination for the plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules specifications, and material selections required for construction.
- Manage client, teams, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with consultants.
- Lead coordination of consultants, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
- Support communication between the project team, clients, consultants, vendors, contractors and building and permitting officials.
- Prepare project proposals, negotiate contracts and fees and coordinate the bidding process & track financial performance of projects.
- Conduct and document process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction.
- Other assigned responsibilities.
Requirements to succeed
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills with ability to handle difficult situations with tact and emotional intelligence.
- Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills./ Superior written and verbal communication skills
Your qualifications & experience
- Bachelor of Architecture - Licensed or registered architect with 15-18+ years of project experience in an architectural practice.
- Experience in Mix-used projects with retail, hospitality and workplace experience would be an advantage
- Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures.
- Proficient knowledge of architectural design principles, technical details &construction documentation experience.
- Experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy.
- Experience leading, managing, and mentoring multiple project teams.
- Experience negotiating project scope and fees & fiscal accountability.
Software skills
- Knowledge and experience in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts and project delivery
- Understanding and some experience of Rhinoceros for design authoring
- Familiarity and some experience with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper
