Job Title: Design/Launch Quality Engineer
Location: Pune

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design/Launch Quality Engineer to support vehicle launch activities for Body and Interior sub-systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving launch quality targets, resolving quality issues, supporting dimensional convergence activities, and ensuring successful product launches from prototype builds through Start of Production (SOP).
The candidate should possess strong expertise in automotive launch quality processes, root cause analysis, GD&T, dimensional analysis, engineering change management, supplier quality, and cross-functional collaboration. Prior experience working with Automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Support vehicle launch programs for Body and Interior systems by achieving program quality targets including DPVA, DPVF, and DPVW across all development milestones.
- Drive issue resolution and quality convergence activities using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5D, 8D, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Review engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, dimensional reports, and tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure product conformity.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Production, Program Management, and Plant teams to ensure successful launch execution.
- Lead investigations and coordinate containment, corrective, and preventive actions for issues identified during prototype, pilot, pre-series, and production builds.
- Support manufacturing plants during trial builds, pilot builds, and Start of Production (SOP) activities by identifying assembly, fitment, dimensional, and quality concerns.
- Monitor vehicle fit-and-finish, dimensional compliance, gap & flush targets, and functional performance throughout launch phases.
- Validate conformity of critical components and supplier deliverables through audits, inspections, build events, and quality assessments.
- Track launch-related quality metrics, open issues, supplier concerns, escalation actions, and ensure timely issue closure.
- Coordinate cross-functional launch readiness reviews and mitigate risks impacting quality, timing, and production stability.
- Prepare and present launch quality dashboards, KPIs, risk assessments, and management status reports.
- Support engineering change management activities and assess the impact of design modifications on product quality, manufacturing feasibility, and supplier readiness.
- Lead supplier issue escalation management and recovery plans for critical launch-related quality concerns.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, process efficiency, and launch performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6–8 years of experience in Automotive Design Quality, Launch Quality, Vehicle Quality, or Manufacturing Quality functions.
- Proven experience supporting vehicle launch programs from prototype builds through production launch.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Root Cause Analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies (5D, 8D).
- Hands-on experience in vehicle launch activities and launch quality management.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience in dimensional convergence and vehicle dimensional quality assessments.
- Expertise in engineering drawing interpretation and dimensional reporting.
- Experience with engineering change management processes.
- Knowledge of part validation methodologies and product conformity assessments.
- Experience conducting supplier process audits and supplier quality assessments.
- Understanding of vehicle fit-and-finish, gap & flush evaluation, and functional performance validation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Commodity Experience
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following automotive commodities will be preferred:
- Instrument Panel (IP)
- Center Console
- Door Trims
- Soft Trims
- Bumpers
- Interior Systems
- Body Systems and Closures
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with Automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, pilot builds, pre-series builds, and SOP activities.
- Exposure to cross-functional program management and supplier coordination.
- Experience in managing quality KPIs and launch readiness activities.
