FlipToSolar Private Limited (FTS) is an IIT Delhi Pedigree founded engineering-driven solar EPC company headquartered in Noida, UP, specialising in C&I rooftop solar and Open Access projects across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and the NCR. We deliver engineering-grade solar installations that generate business-grade returns. We are at an early and exciting stage — building the team and client base that will take FTS to ₹1,000 Crore revenue over the next decade. ROLE OVERVIEW
The Design & Estimation Engineer converts client site data into a complete technical and commercial proposal package within 48 hours. They sit at the intersection of engineering and sales — their accuracy determines FTS's project margins, and their speed determines how many proposals FTS can submit per month. This is an office-based role at FTS's Noida HQ. While primarily technical, this person must understand the commercial implications of every design decision — module selection, inverter sizing, cable routing — because each one directly impacts the BOM cost and the client's payback period.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Energy Yield & System Design
- Receive site data from BD Manager and complete full system design within 48 hours — no exceptions.
- Run PVSyst simulations — produce P50 generation forecast and Performance Ratio projection per project.
- Design string configuration and inverter sizing — select from FTS preferred vendor list (Sungrow / Vikram Solar / Fronius).
- Perform shadow analysis and determine optimal module placement — maximise generation while meeting safety clearances.
- Size ACDB, DCDB, and all cables (DC string, AC output, earthing) per IS 732 and CEA Grid Interactive Regulations
Drawings & Documentation
- Prepare AutoCAD rooftop layout — module arrangement, MMS rows, cable trays, ACDB/DCDB/inverter locations, metering panel.
- Prepare single-line diagram (SLD) for net metering application (Nivesh Mitra portal) and client proposals.
- Prepare earthing and lightning protection layout per IS 3043 and IEC 62305.
- Maintain standard design library for repeat sizes (20 / 50 / 100 / 250 kWp) — enabling sub-4-hour turnaround on common configs
BOM & Cost Estimation
- Prepare detailed BOM with quantities for all components — modules, inverters, MMS, DC/AC cables, ACDB, DCDB, earthing kit, lightning arrester, net meter, SCADA.
- Enter BOM into FTS financial model — Vendor Cost Sheet (internal) and BOM & Client Quote sheet (client facing).
- Apply correct HSN codes and GST rates to each BOM line item.
- Target BOM accuracy: actual vs. modelled material cost variance < 3%
Proposal & Regulatory Support
- Provide complete Technical Specifications section for every FTS client proposal — module, inverter, and MMS datasheets.
- Respond to client technical queries during commercial negotiations within 24 hours.
- Prepare technical annexures for Nivesh Mitra net metering applications — SLD, layout, module/inverter datasheets, load details.
- Verify module ALMM compliance for DCR-specified projects (PM KUSUM / government schemes)
Post-Commissioning
- Prepare as-built drawings from Project Engineer's site markups within 7 days of commissioning
- Update design library with learnings from each completed project — shadow accuracy, actual vs. modelled PR, BOM variances
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- B.Tech in Electrical Engineering / EEE.
- 2–4 years of solar EPC design experience — must have independently designed minimum 50 kWp rooftop systems from string sizing to SLD.
- PVSyst proficiency — MANDATORY. Candidates will be tested with a live design exercise during interview. No exceptions.
- AutoCAD proficiency — 2D layout drawings and SLD preparation.
- Strong MS Excel — BOM preparation, cost estimation, and data entry into financial models.
- Working knowledge of IS 732, IS 3043, CEA Grid Interactive Regulations.
- Familiarity with Vikram Solar, Sungrow, Fronius, and other Tier-1 module and inverter datasheets
GOOD TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Helioscope, Aurora, or PVCase for advanced 3D shading analysis.
- Knowledge of ALMM list and DCR compliance for PM KUSUM / government scheme projects
- Exposure to ground-mount design — tracker vs. fixed-tilt, inter-row spacing, large-plant cable routing.
- Basic understanding of PVVNL / UPPCL net metering application process
