Position: Design Engineer (BIW)
Department: Vehicle Engineering – 3-Wheeler – BIW COE
Roles and Responsibility:
- Preparation of concepts, detailed parametric design (components and assemblies) and manufacturing 2D drawings in Siemens NX for different system and subsystem of BIW in a complex package envelop from predevelopment to series production phase.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for BIW assembly using CAD software (NX).
- Record and manage BIW system, subsystem, and component level design requirements through cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detailed benchmarking and master section preparation for different system and subsystem of BIW and closure for battery electric vehicles
- Interface and DMU analysis and seamless coordination with internal and external stakeholders to resolve packing and interface challenges.
- Preparation, review, control and monitor design quality documents and its major elements such as benchmarking, Design Concept Sheet, GD&T, DFMEA, DFMA, DFS.
- Active participation for vehicle builds, concerns recoding, monitoring and resoling by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders using problem solving tools such as 8D and FTA etc
Education and Skills Requirements
- BE Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience in BIW and closure components design.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them towards BIW components design.
- Proficient in parametric CAD modelling. NX experience is mandatory.
- Proficient in PDM software specifically, Teamcenter (PDM software)
- Knowledge in engineering materials specifically, mild to hight strength steel
- Knowledge on metal stamping and joining process.
- Knowledge on design quality elements such as benchmarking, Design Concept Sheet, GD&T, DFMEA, DFMA, DFSS, DFS&R, and DVP&R
- Basic knowledge on battery electric vehicles
- Broad experience working in cross-functional team (technical and non-technical) to ensure product manufacturability, cost, quality, and project timeline adherence.
- Good knowledge in problem/troubleshooting techniques(8D/FTA) experience and design process auditing capability
- Must have the ability to work quickly while maintaining high level of craftmanship and attentional to detail.
- Must be reliable, self-initiative, committed, and quality focused.
- Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous activities, challenges, self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have strong command of the English language, both in written and verbal
- Professional and positive communication skills
- Strong skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Creative capability for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with aggressive GEM approach to revolutionary product development.
- To support team, the candidate needs also to be willing to quickly learn some of the areas in which he/she doesn’t have experience.
