Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced CATIA Design Engineer with 3+ years of industry experience to join our growing engineering team. This role requires strong capability in CATIA based 3D modelling, assembly design and engineering detailing, with a focus on delivering accurate, manufacturable and production-ready solutions.
The successful candidate will work on multidisciplinary engineering projects involving concept development, design optimisation and manufacturing support across Aerospace, Automotive and Industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D parametric models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using CATIA
- Create complex solid and surface models aligned with engineering and manufacturing requirements
- Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up and DFM principles to optimise design feasibility
- Produce production-ready engineering documentation including BOMs, detailing and assembly drawingsProduce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using CATIA V5/V6
- Develop complex solid and surface models using Part Design, Assembly Design and GSD workbenches
- Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up and DFM/DFA principles to ensure manufacturable designs
- Prepare engineering documentation including BOMs, detailing packages and technical drawings
- Support prototype development, engineering changes and design validation activities
- Assist with reverse engineering and scan-to-CAD workflows
- Generate FEA-ready CAD models for simulation and analysis activities
- Liaise with manufacturing, tooling and quality teams to resolve technical issues
- Maintain engineering data within PLM/PDM systems
- Support product development from concept stage through to release for manufacturing
- Support reverse engineering activities using 3D scan and point cloud data
- Develop FEA-ready CAD models and support basic simulation activities
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and project teams to resolve technical issues
- Maintain CAD data, revisions and documentation within PLM/PDM systems
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or related discipline
Required Skills
- 3+ years’ experience as a CATIA Design Engineer
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 / V6 (Part Design, Assembly Design, Generative Shape Design, Drafting)
- Experience in complex assemblies, parametric modelling and surface modelling
- Good understanding of GD&T, DFM and manufacturing processes
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Knowledge of machining, fabrication, sheet metal or composite structures
- Ability to interpret engineering standards, specifications and customer requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
Technical & Analytical Knowledge
- Understanding of tolerance analysis and manufacturing feasibility
- Awareness of FEA/CFD fundamentals and simulation-driven design
- Knowledge of Aerospace structures, Automotive BIW or Industrial product development
- Familiarity with reverse engineering workflows and scan-to-CAD processes
- Understanding of additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping methods
Preferred
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems such as Teamcenter, ENOVIA or Windchill
- Exposure to OEM, Tier 1 supplier or engineering consultancy environments
- Experience supporting global engineering projects and remote collaboration
