About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at UST. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing electro-mechanical products, particularly within the automotive sector. This role involves developing detailed CAD models, creating precise drawings, and ensuring that all designs meet industry standards for manufacturability and assembly. The Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing, and quality assurance to deliver innovative cockpit electronics products that meet stringent automotive specifications.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 6 to 9 years of relevant experience in electro-mechanical product design is required. Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation using CATIA V5 is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of tolerance analysis, GD&T principles, and design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA). Experience with plastic, sheet metal, and die-casting component design is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are necessary to effectively collaborate within our global teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of cockpit electronics products tailored for the automotive industry, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Create and update detailed CAD models and drawings for parts, sub-assemblies, and final products using CATIA V5.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T principles to ensure design robustness and manufacturability.
- Design components considering DFM and DFA requirements to facilitate efficient manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical and electronic components seamlessly.
- Review and validate design prototypes, perform design iterations, and implement necessary modifications based on testing and feedback.
- Maintain documentation of design processes, specifications, and revisions in accordance with company standards.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project planning activities to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
