About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced VLSI Digital Design Engineer to join Qualcomm’s Bangalore WLAN PHY team. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and optimization of complex IPs for the latest Wi-Fi standards. As part of our dynamic team, you will be responsible for architecting high-performance, power-efficient digital IPs that are integral to Qualcomm’s next-generation Wi-Fi chip solutions. Your expertise will contribute directly to the development of end-to-end signal processing chains, from antenna samples to raw bits and vice versa, supporting the evolution of wireless communication systems. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 12 to 20 years of hands-on experience in micro-architecting and developing complex digital IPs. A strong background in digital design, VLSI concepts, and experience designing power and area-efficient IPs across multiple clock domains are essential. Proficiency in RTL coding, particularly in Verilog, and familiarity with RTL QA flows such as PLDRC, CDC, and CLP (optional) are required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to propose and present design alternatives to meet strict area, power, and performance specifications. Leadership experience, including guiding or managing junior team members, is advantageous. A proven track record of taking IP designs from requirements to silicon is critical, and prior experience developing IPs for wireless technologies such as WLAN, LTE, NR, or Bluetooth will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of complex digital IPs for Wi-Fi standards, ensuring they meet performance, power, and area targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications and translate requirements into optimized digital designs.
- Develop, review, and validate RTL code using Verilog, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Perform comprehensive verification and validation of IPs, including CDC checks, timing analysis, and debugging of complex data-path and control-path logic.
- Propose and evaluate alternative design solutions, balancing trade-offs between power, performance, and area constraints.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and documentation to ensure clarity and alignment with project goals.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to facilitate silicon tape-outs and resolve post-silicon issues.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, standards, and industry best practices to continuously enhance design methodologies.
