About The Role
Qualcomm Bangalore WLAN PHY team is seeking experienced VLSI Digital Design Engineers to join as Senior Staff members. This role involves leading the development and implementation of high-performance IP cores for the latest WiFi standards, including 802.11ax and beyond. As part of this dynamic team, you will work on end-to-end signal processing chains, from antenna samples post-ADC to raw bits for upper layers, and from raw bits to DAC on the reverse path. Your expertise will contribute to designing innovative solutions that address the challenges of high-speed wireless communication systems, ensuring optimal performance, power efficiency, and area utilization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of WiFi technology, collaborating with a team of passionate experts dedicated to shaping the future of wireless connectivity. You will be responsible for architecting complex IPs, proposing design alternatives, and guiding junior engineers through the development lifecycle, from concept to silicon. Qualifications
Candidates should possess a minimum of 12 to 20 years of hands-on experience in micro-architecting and developing complex digital IPs. A strong background in digital design, VLSI concepts, and the creation of power and area-efficient IPs across multiple clock domains is essential. Proficiency in RTL coding using Verilog and familiarity with RTL quality assurance flows such as PLDRC, CDC, and CLP (optional) are expected. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to propose and present design alternatives to meet stringent area, power, and performance requirements. Previous experience in leading or mentoring junior team members is advantageous, along with a proven track record of successfully taking IPs from requirements to silicon. While not mandatory, experience in developing IPs for wireless technologies such as WLAN, LTE, NR, Bluetooth, or UWB, as well as HLS (High-Level Synthesis), will be considered a plus. A deep understanding of signal processing algorithms, WiFi standards, and related concepts will further strengthen your application.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, architecting, and verifying digital IPs for WiFi PHY applications. This includes translating system requirements into high-quality RTL code, optimizing designs for power, area, and performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for complex signal processing challenges, including filters, matrix transformations, channel estimation, equalization, decoding, and modulation. Additionally, you will review and analyze design specifications, propose improvements, conduct design reviews, and guide junior engineers through technical challenges. Your role will also involve participating in verification planning, debugging complex data-path and control-path IPs, and ensuring timely delivery of silicon-ready designs. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, keeping abreast of industry trends and emerging standards to maintain Qualcomm’s competitive edge in WiFi technology.
