Role Description The Design Engineer role at Capital Cranes India is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and refining designs for cranes and hoists, including structural and mechanical components, to meet client specifications and industry standards. Day-to-day tasks include creating detailed CAD models and drawings, collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineering teams, and supporting product customization for various industrial applications. The role involves reviewing technical requirements, performing design calculations, coordinating with production and service teams, and contributing to continuous improvement in product design, safety, and performance. The Design Engineer will also participate in design reviews, documentation, and adherence to relevant codes and regulations.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 2D drafting and 3D modeling of mechanical components and assemblies - SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Strong background in Design Engineering and Product Design, with the ability to develop practical and innovative solutions for industrial crane systems.
- Solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering, including knowledge of structural design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering principles related to crane controls, motors, and safety systems is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams on-site.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality in design and documentation.
- Previous experience in crane design, material handling equipment, or heavy engineering industries is preferred.
