We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Design Automation Engineer to support the automation of engineering design, drafting, and documentation workflows. The role involves developing automation tools to improve engineering productivity, reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and increase quotation turnaround speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop automation tools for AutoCAD drafting and detailing workflows.
- Automate layout generation, drawing updates, annotations, and engineering documentation activities.
- Create rule-based systems for automatic drawing and layout generation.
- Develop tools to populate drawing information automatically from Excel or structured input files.
- Build automated BOM generation and part-count extraction tools from drawings.
- Develop engineering productivity tools using Python, Excel VBA, AutoLISP, or C#/.NET.
- Standardize engineering outputs and improve consistency across projects.
- Reduce manual drafting effort, documentation errors, and engineering turnaround time.
- Work closely with engineering and quotation teams to understand workflows and implement automation solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for engineering efficiency and productivity.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of AutoCAD drafting and detailing workflows.
- Hands-on experience in AutoCAD automation/customization.
- Programming and automation skills in:
- Python
- Excel VBA
- AutoLISP
- C#/.NET (preferred)
- Strong understanding of Excel-based engineering workflows and data handling.
- Ability to develop practical engineering productivity tools and workflow automation systems.
- Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand engineering workflows and convert them into automated systems.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in engineering services, manufacturing, solar, or industrial projects.
- Experience developing AutoCAD plugins, macros, or productivity enhancement tools.
- Knowledge of BOM automation and engineering documentation workflows is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with rule-based design automation or ERP integration is a plus.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in CAD automation, engineering automation, or workflow productivity tool development.
- Candidates with practical project experience in AutoCAD automation and BOM/document automation will be strongly preferred.
