Role Description As a Design and Development Intern - Mechanical at Biosthira Pvt. Ltd., you will support the design, prototyping, and improvement of mechanical components and assemblies for smart bin composters. This full-time, on-site role in Chennai involves creating and updating CAD models and drawings, assisting with tolerance analysis, and preparing basic documentation for manufacturing and assembly. You will participate in testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of existing systems, helping to identify performance issues and suggest design improvements. The internship offers hands-on experience with sustainable hardware products, exposure to IoT-enabled systems, and opportunities to learn industry-standard mechanical engineering practices.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, including basic design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and preparing engineering drawings.
- Skills in Inspection and basic testing methods to evaluate component performance, fit, and quality.
- Understanding of Maintenance concepts for mechanical systems, including preventive and corrective maintenance approaches.
- Exposure to Automotive or similar mechanical systems is beneficial for understanding real-world mechanical design and durability.
- Currently in final year or recently completed a degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai for 6 months, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and follow safety and quality guidelines in a workshop or lab environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and interest in sustainability and waste management technologies.
