Role Description The Deputy Manager Tool Room role is a full-time, on-site position based at the Ahmedabad location. The role involves overseeing daily tool room operations, including planning, allocation, and monitoring of tool manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and modification activities. The Deputy Manager will coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure tooling availability, minimize downtime, and support new product development and trial runs. Responsibilities include managing tool inventories, implementing preventive maintenance schedules, optimizing processes for efficiency and cost control, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role also includes supervising and training tool room staff, resolving technical issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose tooling issues, interpret production data, and drive process improvements.
- Experience in operations management within a tool room or manufacturing environment, including resource planning and workflow optimization.
- Proficiency in project management to handle tooling projects, new developments, and cross-functional coordination.
- Capability to deliver training and guidance to tool room team members, promoting skill development and adherence to best practices.
- Customer service orientation when interacting with internal stakeholders (production, quality, maintenance) to meet tooling requirements and timelines.
- Hands-on experience with tool room equipment, jigs, fixtures, press tools, and dies, preferably in automotive sheet metal components.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM, machining processes, and basic metrology; familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool and Die Making, or a related discipline, with prior experience in a supervisory or assistant manager role in a tool room.
- Effective communication skills, ability to work in a team-driven environment, and commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
