About the Role
The Deputy Manager / Assistant Manager – GST & Accounts Payable will be responsible for overseeing GST compliance and accounts payable operations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
Responsibilities
A. Goods & Services Tax (GST) – Major Focus Area
- Oversee end-to-end GST compliance including registration, return filing (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, etc.), and reconciliation.
- Ensure accuracy in input tax credit (ITC) claims, vendor compliance tracking, and GST ledger reconciliation.
- Review vendor invoices for proper GST applicability and ITC eligibility.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual GST reports and workings.
- Liaise with consultants, auditors, and tax authorities for audits, notices, and assessments.
- Keep updated with changes in GST law and ensure timely implementation of new compliance requirements.
- Identify process gaps and implement system improvements for better GST control and reporting accuracy.
B. Accounts Payable (AP) – Secondary Focus Area
- Supervise day-to-day AP operations including invoice processing, vendor payment runs, and TDS deductions.
- Verify vendor bills for accuracy and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Ensure proper expense booking, vendor reconciliations, and timely payment cycles.
- Support month-end closing and reporting related to payables.
- Assist in process automation and strengthening of internal controls in the AP function.
C. Audit & Coordination
- Facilitate statutory, internal, and tax audits related to accounts payable and GST.
- Coordinate with internal departments (Purchase, Stores, Logistics, etc.) for data and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, consultants, and government authorities.
Qualifications
- CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) / CA Inter
- 5–7 years in Accounts Payable, GST (preferably in Manufacturing Industry)
Required Skills
- In-depth understanding of GST law, compliance, and audit processes.
- Working knowledge of Accounts Payable processes and controls.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Proficiency in SAP and MS Excel.
- Oversee accounting entries and ensure compliance with internal financial controls (IFC).
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
