Role Description The Deputy Manager – Accounts is a full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including maintaining books of accounts, managing payables and receivables, and ensuring timely reconciliation of bank and ledger accounts. The position involves preparing financial statements and management reports, supporting budgeting and cost control, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, taxation rules, and regulatory requirements. The Deputy Manager – Accounts will coordinate with internal teams, external auditors, and other stakeholders to support accurate financial reporting and efficient financial processes. The role may also involve improving accounting systems, implementing internal controls, and contributing to strategic financial planning for the organization.
Qualifications
- Strong core accounting skills, including general ledger management, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and preparation of financial statements.
- Working knowledge of taxation, statutory compliances, and regulatory requirements relevant to corporate and travel/tourism operations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, along with solid skills in MS Excel and other office productivity tools.
- Experience in budgeting, cost analysis, variance analysis, and financial reporting to support management decision-making.
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, auditors, and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy under time constraints.
- Relevant academic background, such as a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CWA/CPA or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Prior experience in an accounts role, preferably within the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry, will be beneficial.
