About the Role:
The Deputy Lead of a Waste Management Plant plays a crucial role in the efficient operation and management of the facility. They support the Lead in overseeing day-to-day activities, coordinating staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing waste management strategies. The Deputy Lead works closely with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to maintain effective waste management practices and achieve organizational goals.
What you’ll do:
- Meeting with district administrations (DC, ADC-D, and BDOs) and state govt. officials (MP & MLAs) for the discussion about the project requirements and implementation plan.
- Conducting meetings with district administrations (DC, ADC-D, and BDOs) and state government officials (MP & MLAs) to discuss project requirements and implementation plans.
- Meeting with village panchayats at the block level to engage in detailed discussions about budget allocation for the composting facility. This includes exploring funds from SBM G-2, 15th FC, MGNREGA, and panchayat, and defining the roles of RGF and the panchayat in on-ground project implementation.
- Collaborating with district administration officials and village panchayats to conduct surveys in the villages for site selection of the composting facility.
- Conducting awareness campaigns, such as delivering lectures and organizing door-to-door campaigns, to educate village residents about the importance of segregating wet and dry wastes at the source point.
- Planning and implementing waste management initiatives at the village level in accordance with the established protocols of RGF.
- Maintaining communication and engagement between RGF and key stakeholders, such as the panchayat and administration, to ensure effective coordination and collaboration throughout the project.
- Writing project proposals and communicating with existing CSR funding agencies to secure financial support for the project.
- Conducting project impact assessments through research reports and publications to evaluate the outcomes and effectiveness of the initiatives implemented.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- 5+ of proven experience in waste management operations, with a focus on solid waste processing, recycling, and disposal.
- Strong knowledge of waste management regulations, environmental compliance, and occupational health and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with experience in supervising a diverse workforce.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at various levels.
- Proficiency in using computer applications and waste management software.
- Familiarity with sustainability principles and circular economy concepts is desirable.
