Role Overview
The Deputy General Manager – RTR COE is a senior finance leadership role responsible for end-to-end Record to Report (RTR) service delivery for Tata Motors Limited (TML) and its subsidiaries, supporting either the Commercial Vehicles (CV) or Passenger Vehicles / Electric Vehicles (PV/EV) businesses. The role leads a specialized RTR Centre of Excellence (COE) and is accountable for financial accuracy, statutory compliance, governance, and continuous improvement under the shared services operating model.
Key Responsibilities:
1. End-to-End RTR Service Delivery:
- Own end-to-end RTR service delivery including general ledger accounting, period close, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, provisions, financial reporting, and balance sheet substantiation.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across TML and its subsidiaries.
- Act as the single-point accountable owner for service quality, risks, controls, and issue resolution.
2. RTR COE Functional Leadership:
Lead one or more RTR COE functions with full end-to-end ownership across the following areas:
- Fixed Assets & Lease Accounting
- Intangibles Accounting
- Inventory Accounting (Manufacturing)
- Employee Benefits Accounting
- Receivables Accounting
- Accruals & Payables
- Related Party Transactions (RPT)
- Treasury Accounting
The role is responsible for accounting policy compliance, control design and effectiveness, process standardization, stakeholder governance, and continuous improvement of COE maturity.
3. Manufacturing & Automotive Accounting Expertise:
- Apply deep expertise in manufacturing and automotive accounting including inventory valuation, standard costing, capitalization, employee benefits, provisions, and management estimates.
- Provide technical guidance and accounting judgment on complex transactions relevant to CV or PV/EV business models.
4. Governance, Controls & Audit:
- Establish, monitor, and sustain strong internal control frameworks across RTR processes.
- Lead interactions with Statutory Auditors, Internal Audit, and Business Assurance teams.
- Ensure timely closure and long-term sustainability of audit observations and control remediation.
5. Transformation & Continuous Improvement:
- Drive process simplification, standardization, automation, and digital adoption across RTR COE operations.
- Lead and support finance transformation initiatives including SAP ECC / S4HANA, close and reconciliation tools, and transitions under the shared services model.
6. Stakeholder & People Leadership:
- Act as a senior finance partner to Business Finance, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Tax, and Operations within the TML ecosystem.
- Lead, mentor, and develop managers and subject-matter experts within the RTR COE, building a strong ownership-driven culture.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / CMA / CPA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 10+ years of post-qualification experience in RTR or Financial Controllership roles.
- Strong exposure to manufacturing and automotive industry environments.
- Experience working in shared services or COE operating models.
Leadership Expectations:

- Leads RTR COE functions with a clear end-to-end service delivery mindset.
