Introduction
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) is the largest research and development center for Mercedes-Benz Group AG outside Germany. Objectives of the Job
- Lead technical consulting engagements for requirement gathering, scope definition, and establishing effective collaboration models with RD Germany
- Drive strategic planning and execution of projects, managing end-to-end delivery from concept to production
- Plan and manage onsite and offshore product development activities, ensuring alignment with global timelines and quality standards
- Establish and strengthen global working models, ensuring seamless stakeholder collaboration across geographies
- Lead talent strategy for the department, including hiring the right talent aligned to project needs and driving continuous skill development through structured learning initiatives
- Enhance team efficiency through process improvements, performance management frameworks, and capability building initiatives
- Foster a culture of innovation and value creation through active participation in benchmarking, CSR initiatives, and team engagement activities
- Ensure robust project management practices using appropriate tools, methodologies, and reporting mechanisms
- Drive effective people and team management, building high-performing, motivated, and future-ready teams
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver complex product development programs within defined scope, cost, and timelines
- Interface with global stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and delivery transparency
- Build and scale high-performing teams, ensuring strong technical depth and leadership pipeline
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies
- Enable innovation and technical excellence across product development domains
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of experience in product design and development, with significant experience in leading large teams
- Strong expertise in product development, including engine components design and PT WH (Powertrain Wiring Harness) design
- Good understanding of end-to-end product development lifecycle
- Proven track record in talent development, people management, and business expansion
- Strong stakeholder management, networking, and communication skills
- Exposure to global collaboration models and intercultural work environments
- German language skills are an added advantage
